Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin Adds Crypto Payments
Blue Origin, a space travel and exploration company, has teamed up with crypto payment company Shift4 Payments. Now Jeff Bezos’ company will be able to accept payments for its services in cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, SOL), including stablecoins (USDT, USDC).
The partnership also allows Blue Origin customers to leverage digital assets by connecting to popular wallets including Coinbase and Dappradar.
Cryptocurrency — is a $4 trillion asset class, and its potential in today’s payments ecosystem is limitless. We believe that kriptovalyuta and stablecoins will become an increasingly popular payment method for consumers, especially when making high-value purchases, as such transactions benefit both consumers and merchants, said Alex Wilson, head of crypto at Shift4.
The cryptocurrency payment feature is now available for all upcoming commercial flights on New Shepard, a suborbital vehicle that reaches altitudes of over 100 km, allowing travelers to see Earth from above the Karman line (the internationally recognized boundary of space).
The partnership between the two companies comes nearly a month after Shift4 announced the acquisition of specialist payments and technology platform Global Blue Holding AG, which offers tax-free shopping and currency conversion solutions.
